What they are for

A lot groups goods produced together, often with an expiry date (food, cosmetics, spare parts): knowing which lot you sold to whom matters for recalls. A serial number identifies a single piece and follows it from receipt to sale, for warranties and service.

Turn them on

  1. Open the product (type Goods) and its Inventory section.
  2. Tick Track inventory: without it lots and serial numbers cannot be turned on.
  3. Tick Track lots and/or Track serial numbers and tap Save.

Lots

  • In Record movement the Lot is required and for incoming goods you can enter the Lot expiry.
  • Delivery note lines have a Lot field.
  • In the warehouse terminal the first scan of the product asks for batch and expiry.
  • At the counter Nanus automatically takes the available lot that expires first.
  • In Inventory stock is split by lot, with its expiry; in transfers you pick the lot among those present, and the stock count has one row per lot.
  • In Movements you can filter by Lot.

Serial numbers

  • In the Serial numbers field enter one per piece, separated by commas or new lines; next to it you see how many you entered against the quantity.
  • The field appears in movements, transfers, lines of invoices, delivery notes and purchases that move stock, at the counter and in goods deliveries.
  • For outgoing goods Nanus proposes the serial numbers In stock in the warehouse: tap the right one to add it.
  • On the invoice serial numbers go into the line description, because FatturaPA (the Italian e-invoice format) has no field for them.

Find a serial number

  1. Open Inventory and the Serial numbers section, which tells you how many are in stock.
  2. Type the number in Find a serial number and tap Find.
  3. Read where it is (“In stock in … since …” or “Not in stock.”) and all its movements, with document, customer or supplier and warehouse.

What Nanus checks

  • A lot is required for lot-tracked products.
  • One serial number per piece, without repeats; a serial number already in stock cannot come in again.
  • A warning if serial numbers are missing on outgoing goods or a serial number is not in that warehouse.
  • Serial-tracked products are left out of the physical stock count: correct them with a movement that lists the serial numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I turn on lots for a product that already has stock?

Yes, but the goods already there have no lot: record a negative adjustment and a receipt with the lot to sort it out.

How do I enter many serial numbers quickly?

With a barcode reader in the Serial numbers field, or from the warehouse terminal, which asks for the serial number after each product.
