SDI statuses: receipts and notifications

What invoice statuses mean after sending (delivered, not delivered, rejected, accepted by a public body…) and what to do in each case.

What it is for

After sending, the SDI (Sistema di Interscambio, the Italian e-invoicing exchange system) replies with receipts and notifications. Nanus reads them automatically, updates the invoice status and shows it in the Documents list (Status column) and in the record, in the Exchange System (SDI) section, with a sentence explaining what happened.

Invoice statuses

  • Draft: issued in Nanus but not yet transmitted to the SDI.
  • Sent to SDI: the file has left; waiting for the receipt.
  • Delivered: the SDI delivered it to the customer (delivery receipt). This is the normal outcome.
  • Not delivered: the SDI accepted it but could not deliver it (for example a full mailbox or no recipient code) and placed it in the customer’s reserved area. The invoice is issued and valid: tell the customer and send them the courtesy copy.
  • Rejected: the SDI found errors; the invoice is not issued and must be corrected.
  • Accepted and Rejected (by a public body): only for public administrations, which reply with an outcome. If the public body rejects it, issue a credit note and, if needed, a new invoice.
  • Deadline passed: the public administration did not reply within 15 days; the invoice remains valid.
  • Imported: issued with another program and brought into Nanus; the SDI already received it and it is not sent again from here.

Notifications in the record

Below the status there is the list of notifications received, with date and time: Delivery receipt, Rejection notice, Delivery failure, PA outcome (with Accepted or Rejected), Deadline passed, Transmission certificate. You also see the name of the file sent and the SDI identifier assigned by the SDI.

If the invoice was rejected and then sent again, the rejected sends line collects the previous files with their error codes, so the whole history is kept.

Where to keep an eye on them

  • On the Home page, To do lists the invoices rejected by the SDI to fix, those to send and those not delivered.
  • In Documents the Status filter shows only invoices in one status, for example all rejected ones.
  • The Rejected statuses are highlighted because they need action.

A delivered, not delivered, accepted or deadline-passed invoice is final: it cannot be deleted and can only be corrected with a credit note.
