Set up SDI sending and receiving

Choose the channel used to send invoices to the SDI and receive supplier invoices: your company PEC mailbox, the Aruba intermediary or Nanus’s direct channel.

Open in Nanus

What it is for

The SDI (Sistema di Interscambio) is the Italian Revenue Agency system every e-invoice goes through. Before sending your first invoice, choose how Nanus talks to the SDI: this is where your invoices leave from, where outcomes (delivery, rejection) arrive and where supplier invoices come in.

Nothing changes for your customers: they always receive on their own recipient code or PEC (posta elettronica certificata, Italian certified email), whichever channel you choose.

Available channels

  • Company PEC mailbox: invoices are sent from your PEC mailbox and outcomes arrive in the same mailbox. It works with any PEC, with no intermediary contract. The first send goes to the SDI’s public PEC address; when the SDI assigns you its own address, Nanus shows it and further sends go there.
  • Aruba (recipient code KRRH6B9): invoices go through the Aruba Electronic Invoicing API, which signs them, sends them to the SDI and archives them legally. You need the API credentials (Premium account, or an account linked to a Premium one by delegation), which differ from the web panel ones.
  • Nanus (direct to the SDI): Nanus sends invoices straight to the Exchange System through its own accredited channel and receives outcomes and supplier invoices, with no intermediary, contract or PEC mailbox. It only appears in the cloud version, when the channel is active.

Set up PEC

  1. Under SDI channel choose Company PEC mailbox and tap Save channel.
  2. Open the PEC mailbox and SDI section and enter IMAP server, Security, Port, Username, Password and Folder (usually INBOX): they are used to read outcomes and supplier invoices.
  3. Under Sending to the SDI enter the PEC address, SMTP server, SMTP security and SMTP port of your PEC provider, with the same credentials.
  4. If you already sent invoices with other software, enter the number of the last file in Last file number sent: Nanus continues from there.
  5. Leave Check automatically every 15 minutes when you open purchases ticked and tap Save PEC. Check now reads the mailbox immediately.

Nanus reads the mailbox without changing it: it does not mark messages as read or move them. Remove removes the mailbox; invoices already received are kept.

Set up Aruba

  1. Under SDI channel choose Aruba (recipient code KRRH6B9).
  2. Leave Environment on Production; Demo (tests only) is only for practice.
  3. Enter API user (you will find it in Aruba’s web service activation email) and API password.
  4. Tick Also receive supplier invoices from Aruba if you want purchases through this channel, then tap Save channel.
  5. Tap Test the connection: Nanus shows account holder, service expiry and archive space.

Outcomes and received invoices update by themselves when you open the invoice list or the received invoices, at most every 15 minutes; Update outcomes and received invoices asks for them right away. The result of the last update is shown below.

For all supplier invoices to reach Aruba, register code KRRH6B9 as your telematic address in the Revenue Agency’s Fatture e Corrispettivi portal.

Set up Nanus’s direct channel

  1. Under Channel choose Nanus (direct to the SDI).
  2. Read the Transmission mandate box: with the mandate you appoint whoever runs Nanus to send your invoices to the SDI and to receive notifications and supplier invoices on your behalf. Tick I have read and accept the transmission mandate to….
  3. Give your suppliers the recipient code shown and register it as your telematic address on the Revenue Agency website (Fatture e Corrispettivi → Registrazione dell’indirizzo telematico). Then tick I have registered recipient code … as my telematic address with the Agenzia delle Entrate.
  4. Tap Save channel.

Below, Channel status sums up Recipient code, Environment, Sending invoices and Receiving outcomes and invoices. Once saved, it shows when the mandate was accepted and by whom. Outcomes and supplier invoices arrive by themselves, with nothing to update: received invoices go into Purchases like the others.

Invoices to the public administration must still be signed by you with this channel: download the XML, sign it with your device and upload it with Send the signed file. If the mandate text changes, Nanus asks you to accept it again before the next send.

What Nanus checks

  • Without an API password the Aruba channel is not saved.
  • Nanus’s direct channel is not saved without the accepted mandate.
  • With Nanus’s direct channel a file over 5 MB is not sent; if the SDI does not answer, the retry uses the same file name, so the invoice won’t arrive twice.
  • The test reports an expired or suspended account and an account VAT number different from the company’s (fine only with a Premium account that manages several companies).
  • With Aruba a file over 5 MB is not sent.
  • If the PEC mailbox cannot be read, the reason for the last failed check is shown.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an accreditation to send with PEC?

No. With the PEC channel you send from your own mailbox to the SDI address without any intermediary contract.

Where are passwords stored?

In the channel fields. Once saved they are not shown again: leave the field empty to keep them.

With Nanus’s direct channel, do I have to register the code with the Revenue Agency?

Not to send. To receive all supplier invoices, yes: without registering it you only get invoices from suppliers who enter Nanus’s code. You or your accountant do the registration.
