Default VAT rate, unit of measure and delivery note details

Choose the VAT rate, unit of measure and transport details that new document lines, new items and delivery notes start with.

Where to find it
Settings → Payments and numbering → Defaults for new documents

Open in Nanus

What it is for

Without a choice, every new line starts at 22% (0% with nature N2.2 under the flat-rate scheme) and every delivery note with the reason “Vendita” (sale) and transport by the sender. If you almost always sell at another rate, exempt operations or goods by weight, you set it here once.

How to do it

  1. Open Settings → Payments and numbering and the Defaults for new documents section.
  2. Choose the VAT rate. With 0% the Nature (required) and Legal reference fields appear, for example N4 and “Art. 10 DPR 633/72”.
  3. Enter the Unit of measure, for example pz, kg or ore.
  4. Under Delivery notes choose Reason for transport, Transport by, Freight and Appearance of goods.
  5. Under Usual carrier enter Carrier name, Carrier VAT number and Licence number.
  6. Tap Save.

Where they apply

  • New lines of invoices, quotes, pro forma invoices, orders and recurring invoices, and free lines at the counter.
  • New items: rate, nature, legal reference and unit of measure (without a choice, pz).
  • Delivery notes: new lines take the unit of measure; a line with a price and no VAT takes the default rate, so the delivery note can be invoiced.
  • New delivery notes and those created from an order: reason, transport, freight and appearance of goods. The usual carrier appears when you choose Carrier under Transport by.
  • A line with an item always takes the item’s VAT; purchases and supplier orders keep 22%, because the VAT is the supplier’s.

They are only proposals: you can always change them in the document. Documents already issued do not change.

What Nanus checks

  • With a 0% rate the nature is required, and a nature is set only with 0%: the same rule as invoice lines.
  • Under the flat-rate scheme a rate other than 0% with nature N2.2 gives a warning: it would need correcting on every document.
  • With transport by the carrier, the usual carrier’s name is required.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a different carrier for one customer?

On the delivery note the proposed carrier can be changed like any other field. There is one usual carrier, the company’s.
