What it is for

The cash book shows the money movements of the Cash and Bank accounts with the balance after each one. It tells you how much you have in cash and at the bank according to Nanus and where the money goes, grouped by category.

What arrives automatically

  • Receipts and payments recorded on due items: cash ones in Cash, other methods in Bank. Tap the description to open the invoice or purchase.
  • Collections from daily takings (counter sales, or a cash register closing with collections entered).

Offsets by a credit note move no money and do not appear.

Recording an entry by hand

  1. Tap New entry.
  2. Choose Income, Expense or Transfer.
  3. Fill in Date, Amount and Account (for a transfer From account and To account).
  4. Write the Description, for example “October rent” or “Cash deposited at the bank”.
  5. Optionally add a free Category (rent, salaries, taxes…): categories already used are suggested.
  6. Tap Save.

To correct or delete a manual entry, tap its description: the form opens again with Delete. Entries coming from due items are corrected on the item.

Filters, totals and printouts

  • Year, Period and Account (Cash and bank, Cash or Bank).
  • At the top Opening balance, Income, Expenses and Closing balance, highlighted if negative.
  • At the bottom Totals by category; receipts and payments from due items go under Collections from customers and Payments to suppliers.
  • PDF to print and More → Export CSV for the accountant.
  • With Cash and bank, a transfer is a single row that does not change the overall balance.

What Nanus checks

  • The amount must be greater than zero.
  • A transfer must go between two different accounts.

The opening balance is the sum of the entries recorded before the period: there is no field for a starting balance. To start from your real balance, record an income entry for that amount on the date you begin.
