What it is for

Instead of recording every transfer received or paid by hand, you upload the statement downloaded from online banking. Nanus compares each transaction with the bank cash book and the open instalments and suggests what to do; you check the suggestions and record them all at once.

How to do it

  1. Open Accounting → Cash book, then More → Reconcile with bank statement.
  2. In the Bank statement section choose the file: CSV, text or Excel (.xlsx).
  3. For CSV files the Column separator is Automatic; if the columns look wrong choose semicolon, comma, tab or vertical bar.
  4. Read the summary: number of transactions, credits, debits and how many are already recorded, match an instalment or are unmatched.
  5. For each row check the Match column and change the choice if needed.
  6. Tap Record N transactions.

The choices for each transaction

  • Already in cash book: there is already a bank entry with the same amount within three days of the date (or value date). It is not recorded again.
  • Receipt from … or Payment to …: the instalment with its document and outstanding balance. Credits are matched to receivable items, debits to payable ones.
  • Record in cash book (bank): for fees, F24 tax payments, salaries and anything without a due item; you can add a Category.
  • Do not record: the transaction is ignored.

An instalment is suggested if its outstanding balance equals the amount, or if the description contains the document number or the counterparty’s name and the amount does not exceed the balance (partial payment). The number weighs more than the name; on a tie the instalment closest in time wins. Each instalment and each recorded entry is used only once; for each row you see up to five possible instalments.

The bank file

You need a date column and a signed amount column, or two columns for credits and debits. Nanus recognises the column names most banks use, in Italian and English, and finds the header row even if the file starts with account holder, IBAN and period. Dates can be written as 31/12/2026, 31-12-26, 2026-12-31 or as an Excel date. Balance rows are skipped automatically.

What Nanus checks

  • If the file has no date and amount columns, nothing is read and you are told so.
  • It lists the rows skipped because the date or amount is not valid, by row number.
  • It blocks a receipt or payment that exceeds what is still due on the instalment.

You can upload the same file again later: transactions already recorded show as Already in cash book and are not duplicated.
