General journal, ledgers, trial balance and balance sheet for internal use, built from your documents, with a customisable chart of accounts.

What it is for
Nanus turns the documents you already have into accounting entries: issued invoices, purchases, self-invoices, receipts and payments, deferred VAT that has become due, cash book and daily takings. You get the journal, ledgers and balance without entering anything twice. It is an internal report: the statutory books and financial statements stay with your accountant.
The views
- Journal: the general journal for the period, with entry type (sales invoice, receipt, cash book…), accounts, Debit and Credit. Tap an automatic entry to open the document it comes from.
- Ledgers: the movements of an Account in the period, with Opening balance, Total debit, Total credit and Closing balance. Customers and suppliers are on control accounts: filter with Customer or supplier.
- Balance: Balance sheet and P&L (assets, liabilities, expenses, revenue and profit or loss) or Trial balance, at the date chosen in As at.
- Accounts: the chart of accounts and the settings for automatic entries.
- Export: the file for your accountant’s accounting software.
Journal, ledger and balance print with PDF and export with More → Export CSV.
Manual entries
- In Journal tap New entry.
- Fill in Date and Description (for example opening balances, depreciation, monthly salaries) and, optionally, Document no. and Dated.
- For each line choose the account and enter the amount under Debit or Credit; on customer and supplier accounts also choose the customer or supplier. Add line gives you more lines.
- Save when you read Debits equal credits.
Entries go on active sub-accounts only. An entry has at least two lines, each line has a positive amount in either debit or credit, and total debit must equal total credit. Automatic entries cannot be edited: correct the document instead.
Chart of accounts and settings
- The default chart follows the Italian statutory layout on three levels: group (
45), account (45.01) and sub-account (45.01.001). - With New account you add accounts and sub-accounts; for a new group choose the Section. You can rename an account and give it the External code used by your accountant’s software.
- A default account, one with sub-accounts or one already used cannot be deleted: mark it No longer in use.
- In Accounts for automatic entries choose the accounts for trade receivables, trade payables, revenue, costs, VAT, withholding tax, stamp duty, cash and bank, and the To be classified account.
- In Cash book categories you link each category to an account; the others go to “to be classified”.
- In Entries from documents starting on choose the start date: earlier documents and movements are left out, and opening balances are recorded with a manual entry.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to realign entries when I change a document?
No: automatic entries are recalculated from the documents every time, like the VAT registers.
Can I use it instead of an accountant?
No: it is an internal control tool and does not replace the books and financial statements kept by your accountant.
