Connect the desktop app to your cloud account

Connect the Nanus desktop app to your cloud account to work on the same data as browser and smartphone, and go back to the computer’s data anytime.

Where to find it
Desktop app → Settings → Users and sign-in → Connect to your cloud account

Available on paid plans.

Open in Nanus

What it is for

Normally the desktop app works on data stored on the computer. Once connected to your cloud account it works on the same data you see in your browser and on your smartphone, always up to date. You need a paid cloud plan (not the free trial) and an internet connection.

How to do it

  1. In the desktop app open Settings → Users and sign-in → Connect to your cloud account and tap Connect to the cloud. The same button is in the initial setup, under Have a cloud account?.
  2. The Nanus sign-in page opens in the window: sign in with email and password (and the code, if you use two-step verification).
  3. On the Connect the desktop app page check the company and account shown and tap Connect.
  4. Connected appears and Nanus opens on the data of your cloud account.

Only tap Connect if you have just pressed Connect to the cloud in the Nanus app on that computer. If the account is not the right one, use Use another account.

The data on the computer

  • The data you had on the computer stays there, unchanged. Connecting does not move it to the cloud: to transfer it, use a backup from Import and backup.
  • To go back to it, in Settings → Users and sign-in → Cloud account tap Use the data on this computer and confirm. The cloud data does not change and you can reconnect whenever you like.

While the app is connected

  • The Cloud account section shows which address the app is connected to.
  • When the session expires, Sign in to your cloud account appears: tap Sign in and sign in again on the cloud page.
  • If the cloud does not respond, The Nanus cloud is not responding appears: check your connection and tap Try again, or meanwhile work with Use the data on this computer.
  • The connection is recorded in the company Activity log as Desktop app connected to the account.

Common problems

  • Connecting the desktop app to the cloud is included in paid plans: you are on the free trial. Tap Choose your plan, activate it and press Connect to the cloud again; during the trial, use Nanus in your browser.
  • The connection has expired or has already been used: go back to Nanus and press Connect to the cloud again.
  • This link is not valid: an incomplete link was opened; start again from the desktop app.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the licence key?

The licence removes the Free limit while the app keeps using the computer’s data, even offline. Connecting makes the app work on the cloud data instead.

Do I lose the computer’s data by connecting?

No: it stays on the computer and you go back to it with Use the data on this computer.
