Sign in with a passkey (fingerprint, face or PIN)
Add a passkey to sign in to Nanus without a password, using the fingerprint, face or PIN of your phone or computer.
- Where to find it
- Settings → Users and sign-in → Passkeys (fingerprint, face or PIN)
Available in the cloud version.
What it is for
A passkey is a key stored on your device: to sign in, your phone or computer asks for your fingerprint, face or PIN, and you don’t type the password. It also replaces the two-step verification code, because only your device can use it. You can add one for each device; your password keeps working.
How to add one
- On the device you want to use, open Settings → Users and sign-in → Passkeys (fingerprint, face or PIN).
- Under Add a passkey enter the Passkey name, for example “Mario’s iPhone” or “Office PC”. If you leave it empty, Nanus uses the browser and system name (such as
Chrome · Windows). - Enter your Current password and tap Add passkey.
- While you see Confirm on your device…, confirm with fingerprint, face or PIN.
- A message confirms the passkey was added: next time you can use Sign in with a passkey.
Signing in with the passkey
On the sign-in page tap Sign in with a passkey: the browser offers the passkeys saved for Nanus, pick yours and confirm on the device. You don’t need to type your email.
The passkey list
- For each passkey you see its name, the date you added it and Last used (or Never used).
- Synced marks a passkey copied to your other devices by your password manager (iCloud, Google, 1Password…).
- Remove deletes it after confirmation: from then on you can no longer sign in with it. Also delete it from the device settings.
If you lose a phone with a passkey, remove it from the list and sign out the phone from Signed-in devices.
Special cases
- You can have at most 20 passkeys per account.
- Passkeys only work in the cloud, with a recent browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox). They are not available for sign-ins over the local network of a desktop app.
- In the desktop app connected to the cloud you sign in on the cloud page.
Common problems
- This browser does not support passkeys: update your browser or sign in with your password.
- This device already has a passkey for your account: it is already in the list.
- More than 5 minutes have passed: enter your password again and retry.
- This passkey is no longer linked to any account: it was removed; sign in with your password and add a new one if you like.
- You already have 20 passkeys: remove one you no longer use.
Frequently asked questions
If I have a passkey, is my password no longer needed?
It stays valid: you use it on devices without a passkey and for account security changes.
Do I also need the two-step verification code with a passkey?
No, the passkey replaces the code.
