Open an XML or p7m e-invoice

How to view, print or save as PDF an XML or p7m e-invoice, or a ZIP received by PEC or from the tax drawer, without saving it in Nanus.

What it is for

E-invoice files cannot be read with ordinary software. Open XML invoice shows the invoice with the official stylesheet, that is, as the Italian Revenue Agency shows it, and lets you print it or save it as PDF. The file is only opened for viewing: Nanus does not save it or count it among your documents.

How to do it

  1. Open Purchases → More → Open XML invoice. On a phone you also find it in the More panel, among the general items.
  2. Tap Choose file and select the invoice: XML, signed (.p7m) or a ZIP with several invoices, also from Drive or Dropbox. On a computer you can drag the file onto the Nanus window, from any page.
  3. Above the invoice you see type, number, date, who issued it, who it is addressed to and the total.
  4. Tap Print and, in the print window, choose Save as PDF to keep the invoice exactly as the Revenue Agency shows it.
  5. Alternatively Download PDF creates a courtesy copy with the Nanus layout.

ZIP files and attachments

  • With a ZIP a list of files appears: choose which invoice to view. If it holds more than 50, use Settings → Import and backup or split the archive.
  • If the invoice contains attachments (contracts, delivery notes, PDF documents), you find them under Attachments and download them with one tap.
  • Open another file moves on to the next invoice.

Record it in purchases

If the invoice is addressed to your company and you can write in purchases, Record in purchases appears: the recording preview opens, as for a file import. From a ZIP only the chosen invoice is recorded.

  • Already in purchases, with Open the purchase: the invoice is already recorded.
  • A It may already be in purchases warning if the same supplier has an invoice with a similar number or the same date and amount: check before recording it.
  • If the same invoice also arrived from the SDI and is waiting to be recorded, recording it here clears it from the waiting list.

Common problems

  • The file contains no e-invoice: you chose a different file, for example an SDI receipt or a PDF.
  • The file is not an invoice the official stylesheet can display: the content is damaged or does not follow the FatturaPA format.

The Nanus website also has a free viewer that works without an account, handy to open an invoice quickly from any device.

Frequently asked questions

Does opening a file record it or count it in my plan?

No: the viewer is only for looking. Only Record in purchases saves the invoice.

Can I also open invoices I issued?

Yes, the viewer opens any e-invoice; the record button only appears for those addressed to your company.
