Finding your way: menu, Home, search and shortcuts

How the Nanus screen is laid out: the section menu, the Home page with your to-dos, the universal search bar and the keyboard shortcuts.

Where to find it

How the screen is laid out

  • At the top is the header: the logo takes you to Home, the universal search bar is in the middle, the ? button opens the Help for this page and, in the cloud, the menu with your company name holds your details, the company switch, Settings, Guided tour and Sign out.
  • On a computer the column on the left lists the sections: Home, Documents, Quotes, Orders, Purchases, Customers & suppliers, Products, Inventory, Due dates, Accounting, Statistics. At the bottom you find Settings, Help, the version number and the theme button.
  • The sections you see depend on your role: people without access to an area do not see it, and read-only users see the data without being able to change it.

The Home page

  • Quick actions: New invoice, New quote, New contact, New product and Record movement, depending on what your role can create.
  • To do: things to deal with, each with a count. For example invoices rejected by SDI to fix, invoices to send to SDI, invoices not delivered, recurring invoices to issue, purchase invoices from PEC to record and items below minimum stock. Tap an item to open the list already filtered. When everything is in order you read Nothing pending.
  • Overview: this year’s revenue (with last year’s), Overdue receivables with what falls due within 30 days, To pay within 30 days with what is already overdue, and the number of customers and products. Each figure opens the page it comes from.

Current notices also appear at the top of the Home page: company details to complete, the tour invitation, what’s new in the version and, in the desktop app, an update ready to install.

The universal search bar

The bar at the top understands both feature names and what you want to do. Open it with a click or with Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac). A few examples:

  • new invoice Rossi prepares an invoice with the customer already chosen; credit note lets you choose the invoice to reverse.
  • invoice 12 opens the document; duplicate last invoice prepares a copy of it.
  • overdue invoices, unpaid invoices, draft invoices open the filtered list, also for one customer (overdue invoices Rossi).
  • stock ABC123 shows how many units of a product are in stock.
  • A question such as how do I send to SDI brings up help answers in the From the help group.

Use the arrow keys to pick a suggestion and Enter to open it; Esc closes the bar. With the bar empty you see Suggested actions and Recently opened records. Nanus learns from what you usually choose and puts it first.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Ctrl+K: opens the search bar.
  • N: creates a new item in the open section.
  • /: jumps to the list search.
  • Ctrl+S: saves the form.
  • Esc: goes back to the list.
  • M: on the Inventory page, records a stock movement.

Single-letter shortcuts do not work while you are typing in a field; Ctrl+S and Esc do. On a Mac you can use ⌘ instead of Ctrl.

Unsaved changes

If you leave a changed form without saving it – with a click, with Esc or from the search bar – Nanus asks for confirmation with Unsaved changes: choose Stay on this page or Leave without saving.

You can drag an XML invoice file onto the Nanus window: it opens in the Open XML invoice viewer.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I see some sections?

Your role does not include those areas. The owner can change it in Settings → Users and sign-in.

Does the search bar also search my data?

Yes: customers, suppliers, products, invoices, quotes, orders, delivery notes, purchase invoices and purchase orders, as well as features and help.
